Quick Access and Recall in 1.3
By default, press Shift + Command + Space from any app. You can change this shortcut in Settings. Type a phrase or concept, use the arrow keys to change selection, and press Return to copy the selected artifact. Use Command + Right Arrow to enter an artifact’s extracted details and Command + Left Arrow to return. Command + Return opens the selected source. Press Shift + Return to toggle the attached inspector and Escape to dismiss Quick Access. Recall, Machine Map, and artifact Content, Nearby, and History share the same panel. The footer labels the shortcuts available in the current view.
If an artifact is not captured
Open Kwip Atlas and confirm memory is active. Check the master pause, source toggles, exclusions, and source health in Settings. If an item was collected but is missing from Recall, check its source’s Recall visibility and search range as well as retention. Copy a new item after re-enabling capture; Atlas does not recreate clipboard events that occurred while capture was paused.
Machine Map and shortcuts
Machine Map opens with Option + Shift + Space by default. Browse Recent apps, Workspaces, and Full timeline in the shared Quick Access panel. Application visits require session collection to be enabled. Configure the Recall, Machine Map, and main-window shortcuts in Settings.
Visible-window names
In 1.3, enable application sessions first, then separately opt into visible-window names. macOS calls the required permission Screen Recording; Atlas uses it only for public window-list metadata, not screenshots, video, audio, typed text, or control contents. An earlier Accessibility choice does not enable this source. Follow macOS instructions to quit and reopen after changing permission, then check collection and pause settings. Ambiguous or missing names are skipped.
Files and links
Kwip Atlas can detect reusable file paths and links inside a larger copied artifact. A complete existing file path can be opened in its default app or revealed through Finder fallback. Partial paths are preserved as reusable text but may need to be completed before macOS can open them.
Episodes, Threads, and Patterns
Episodes reconstruct bounded work sessions from related artifacts. Threads connect work across separate episodes, and Patterns show evidence-backed recurrence and change over time. Inferred groupings can be inspected and corrected. Use the episode controls to create, continue, merge, or remove episodes; review the confirmation and any undo or restore option shown.
Review and resume a Workspace
Use Workspaces to keep apps, files, links, and a pick-up note together. Save a setup and choose Review & resume to inspect destinations before opening them. The return brief combines your pick-up note, selected setup, and retained observations against a chosen baseline. Opening it does not mark changes reviewed. Use Leave ready for later to prepare a note and working set; saving a new setup is a separate choice. Missing or inaccessible destinations can be repaired. After a partial resume, review and retry unresolved selected items. Resume opens current files; it does not restore unsaved edits, old file contents, or an exact desktop arrangement.
Folders, Markdown, and handoffs
Choose folders explicitly in Settings; overlapping nested roots are handled without double tracking. File-detail extraction is separately configurable. Import compatible Markdown or export linked Markdown to preserve relationships for Obsidian’s graph. Before copying or exporting a Workspace handoff, review its exact preview and redaction choices.
Background behavior
Review Settings for what happens when the main window closes and whether Atlas opens at login. Closing a window and pausing collection are different actions. Use the master pause to stop every enabled source together, and check source health and the last observation when troubleshooting.
Purchases and restore
Atlas Pro is available monthly or annually through Apple’s App Store. Use Restore Purchases in the plan sheet after signing into the App Store account that made the purchase. Subscription management, renewal, cancellation, grace periods, refunds, and billing are handled by Apple. Free includes one complete Workspace, one Thread, and one visible qualified Pattern when enough evidence exists. Pro adds collection capacity. Existing Threads and Workspaces remain accessible and editable after expiry. Archived items still count toward creation limits. Capture, deletion, correction, and complete raw-data export remain available without Pro.
Privacy, export, and deletion
Kwip Atlas keeps captured memory and analysis on your Mac. Use the main app to export owned data, remove artifacts, or delete local history, and use Settings to manage collection, exclusions, source-specific retention, and deletion. Read the complete privacy policy.
