Summary
Kwip Atlas organizes and searches remembered work on your Mac. You choose which collection sources are enabled. KWIP LLC does not operate a server that receives your captured content, source history, embeddings, searches, episodes, threads, patterns, or Workspaces.
Information processed by the app
The app may process clipboard text and images that you copy, reusable links, file paths, and colors detected inside those artifacts, the foreground app or site associated with a copy, timestamps, local semantic embeddings, and relationships inferred to reconstruct episodes, threads, and patterns. With separate opt-ins, Atlas can also process application identities and session times, visible-window names, changes in folders you select, and bounded text and allowlisted metadata from eligible files. Markdown import processes files you choose. The app stores your corrections, exclusions, saved views, Workspace setups and pick-up notes, handoff preferences, and verified App Store subscription state.
Window-name permission in version 1.3
Version 1.3 uses a replacement window-context source. macOS uses Screen Recording permission to protect window-name metadata too. The system permission is broader than Atlas's use: Atlas reads public window-list metadata only, not screenshots, video, audio, typed text or control contents. It retains the active app's frontmost normal visible window name, with app identity and time, rather than claiming exact keyboard focus. Missing or ambiguous window names are skipped; background apps' window names are not retained.
This source requires a separate opt-in after application sessions are enabled. An earlier Accessibility choice does not enable it, and granting permission does not enable collection or resume paused memory. Follow any macOS instruction to quit and reopen the app when changing permission. Previously retained window-title history remains subject to your visibility, retention, export and deletion controls.
Capture controls and exclusions
You can toggle collection sources, pause all enabled sources together, exclude source apps or sites, and select or remove tracked folders. Window-name collection and file-detail extraction require separate choices. Recall visibility, retention, and deletion are independent of collection: hiding a source does not stop its capture, and stopping capture does not delete its history. Kwip Atlas filters sensitive pasteboard types and known password-manager sources before storage. These protections reduce accidental capture but cannot determine the sensitivity of every item you intentionally copy, so the app keeps capture status visible and provides deletion controls.
Local storage and analysis
Artifacts and derived relationships are stored on your Mac. Artifact content is encrypted with Apple platform cryptography, with key material protected by the macOS Keychain. Semantic embeddings, nearest-neighbor retrieval, episode reconstruction, thread suggestions, and pattern analysis run on the device. Kwip Atlas does not upload this memory for processing.
No tracking or advertising
Kwip Atlas does not contain advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, cross-app tracking, or a KWIP account system. KWIP LLC does not sell your information. Search queries, artifact content, paths, URLs, embeddings, episode names, and inferred topics are not sent to KWIP.
Purchases
Optional subscriptions are sold and managed through Apple’s App Store. The app reads verified entitlement, expiration, grace-period, and renewal state from StoreKit. Apple processes the purchase and may handle related account, billing, and storefront information under Apple’s privacy policy; KWIP does not receive your captured memory through that process.
Exports and opening artifacts
You may create a portable export or linked Markdown for Obsidian-compatible use, copy an artifact back to the clipboard, or ask macOS to open a saved destination. Workspace handoffs show the exact text for review before copying or exporting, with redaction controls; local paths are excluded by default. Data leaves Kwip Atlas only through the action and destination you choose. The receiving app, site, or export destination controls its copy.
Deletion
You can delete individual artifacts or confirm deletion of a source’s collected history in Settings. Removing collected file records does not delete the original files. Copies previously exported to another destination are not removed by local deletion. Deletion removes the associated locally stored content and derived records covered by that action. Removing the app removes its app-container data subject to Apple’s platform behavior. App Store transaction records remain governed by Apple.
Children
Kwip Atlas is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children through a KWIP service because it does not transmit captured memory to KWIP.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s data practices materially change, this page and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated before those practices are released.
