Email [email protected] with “Car Thoughts” in the subject. Include your iPhone model, iOS version, selected language, whether the recording plays, and the exact message shown in the app. Do not attach a private recording or transcript unless support explicitly asks and you choose to share it.
Record in the iPhone app
- Open Car Thoughts and tap the large microphone.
- Speak after recording begins.
- Tap the stop square once. Wait for the app to show that the thought was saved.
- The saved audio remains usable while transcription finishes.
Use Siri without Apple Intelligence
Apple Intelligence is not required for Siri capture. In Car Thoughts, open Settings → Siri, then use the Shortcuts link to confirm Save a Thought is installed. Say “Siri, save a thought in Car Thoughts,” answer Siri’s prompt with one bounded thought, and wait for the saved confirmation.
The separate start and stop recording shortcuts must open the app and may be less reliable while the phone is locked or connected to a vehicle. Configure and test the bounded dictated shortcut before driving.
If transcription does not start
Open iPhone Settings and confirm Car Thoughts has Microphone and Speech Recognition permission. Keep the iPhone language and Siri language on a combination supported by Apple’s on-device speech recognition, and allow any required speech assets to finish downloading. Return to Car Thoughts and retry transcription. The original recording is retained when transcription is unavailable or fails.
If Apple Intelligence is unavailable
This is expected on devices such as iPhone 14. Capture, supported on-device transcription, transcript-derived titles, manual summaries, search, playback, export, and deletion still work. Only optional automatic summaries and key points are unavailable. Car Thoughts does not upload the transcript to replace the missing on-device model.
Apple Watch
The Watch companion saves dictated text and queues it for private transfer to the paired iPhone. This release does not retain an original Watch audio file. If the iPhone is temporarily unreachable, leave the queued thought on the Watch and reopen both apps later.
Purchases and restore
Car Thoughts Pro unlocks optional local discovery and library insights. Capture, transcription, basic search, portable export, and access to existing thoughts remain free. Use Restore Purchases in the app after signing into the App Store account that made the purchase. Subscription management and billing are handled by Apple.
Privacy, export, and deletion
Open Settings in Car Thoughts to choose original-audio retention and create a portable export. Delete a thought from its detail screen to remove its recording and derived local content. Read the complete privacy policy.
Driving safety and CarPlay
Set up and test Siri before driving. Follow local law and roadway conditions, and do not interact with the screen while driving. A dedicated CarPlay interface is not included in the first release.
