Summary
Car Thoughts records, transcribes, organizes, searches, and stores your thoughts on your iPhone. KWIP LLC does not operate a server that receives your recordings, transcripts, generated fields, searches, or library.
Information processed by the app
The app may process:
- Microphone recordings that you explicitly start in the app.
- Text you dictate through Siri, Shortcuts, or the Apple Watch companion.
- On-device transcripts, transcript-derived titles, optional summaries and key points, edits, favorites, archive state, local groups, and display preferences.
- Local recording duration, file size, capture source, processing state, and technical provenance needed to preserve and manage a thought.
- App Store subscription status used to unlock optional Pro discovery features.
Apple Speech and Apple Intelligence
When supported for the selected language, Car Thoughts requests on-device speech recognition from Apple to transcribe a saved recording. The app does not intentionally fall back to cloud transcription.
On eligible devices, you may allow Apple Intelligence to create optional structure from a transcript using Apple’s on-device system model. Apple Intelligence is not required. If the device is ineligible, Apple Intelligence is disabled, or its model is not ready, capture, supported on-device transcription, fallback titles, manual summaries, search, playback, export, and deletion remain available.
Local storage and retention
Recordings, transcripts, generated fields, edits, and preferences are stored in the app’s local container or its private Apple App Group. By default, original recordings remain until you delete them. You may instead choose to remove original audio only after a readable transcript is durable.
No tracking or advertising
Car Thoughts does not contain advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, cross-app tracking, or a KWIP account system. Thought content is not placed in generic analytics, crash breadcrumbs, notification payloads, or unredacted logs. KWIP LLC does not sell your information.
Purchases
Optional subscriptions are sold and managed through Apple’s App Store. The app reads verified entitlement and renewal state from StoreKit. Apple processes the purchase and may handle related account, billing, and storefront information under Apple’s privacy policy; KWIP does not receive your thought content through that process.
Exports
You may create a portable export containing your saved thought records and available audio. An export leaves the app only when you choose a destination using Apple’s system share interface. After export, the destination you select controls its copy.
Deletion
You can delete an individual thought and its associated recording, transcript, generated fields, and local processing records from the app. Removing the app removes its app-container data subject to Apple’s platform behavior.
Children
Car Thoughts is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children through a KWIP service because it does not transmit thought content to KWIP.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s data practices materially change, this page and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated before those practices are released.
